This is a tutorial to help customize your patterns with your desired skin tones. My patterns use the DMC color palette, but if you use any other branded thread as well there might be added flexibility (depending on if those brands have skin tone shades that DMC does not have). 
 
A palette swap doesn't account for other features (such as hair) so I am not attempting to replace designs that are conceived as PoC from the beginning, merely trying to provide more options.
