In 2024, after 51 years of manufacturing, Kreinik sold to Rainbow Gallery.

Rainbow Gallery already produces many of the same colors as Kreinik, but the transition has been far from smooth! Many threads, especially golds, have been hard to come by. Individual stores have orders that are taking months to fulfill, and when they do get stock in it’s often not the entire order.

That said – most of what I have on hand to compare IS Rainbow Gallery, which is now the same manufacturer. This list is meant to give you another reference point to replace colors you otherwise are having trouble purchasing, not an end-all-be-all.

Please be aware that these are my best estimates. I used a full spectrum lamp and my own eyes to compare and contrast the thread. This is very unofficial. My goal was color, not texture. Some threads are “fuzzier” than others.
